Duties

A summary of the position is as follows:

Operational Information Management Specialist

The Operational Information Management Specialist (OIMS) is responsible for searching in automated Information Management (IM) systems utilized within K Division to find all references to an individual who has received a Records Suspension in order to locate records potentially containing criminal conviction information. The OIMS will sequester the information when a Records Suspension is granted under the Criminal Records Act and will restore the sequestered information to its original state and location in the event of a revocation of a Records Suspension. The OIMS is also responsible for searching within the IM systems to locate and process records that require application of Access Control List restrictions and to ensure appropriate sequestering as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Criminal Records Act.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position located in Edmonton, AB.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff future indeterminate and/or temporary vacancies in Edmonton, AB within the RCMP. In the event of a temporary vacancy, the following staffing actions may be used and/or considered: acting appointment, term appointment, assignment or secondment.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience researching and correlating information using multiple sources of information.

Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheet software.

Recent* and significant** experience using corporate databases (for example SAP).

*Recent experience signifies having performed these duties within the last 2 years
**Significant experience means full-time usage for approximately 1 year.

Recent* experience in using PROS with End User Certification.

*Recent experience signifies having performed these duties within the last 2 years.

Experience using CPIC, PIRS or JOIN.

Experience providing administrative support services in a law enforcement, judicial or quasi-judicial environment.

Experience working with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Criminal Records Act.

PROS Information Manager (IM) Certified

Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and /or graphic material.

Willingness and ability to maintain a valid driver's license, or have personal mobility to the degree normally associated with a driver's license.

Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes, using various modes of transportation.

Conditions of employment

Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. Depending on the position requirements, the security clearance requirement will be at one of the following RCMP levels: Reliability Status, Secret or Top Secret. This requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, reference, etc.
