MSC Student - reduction in tylosin on antimicrobial resistance in feedlot cattle.
Collection, logging, transport and processing of samples (bacterial cultures, digesta, urine, fecal material, ambient gases).
Molecular and microbiology duties include but are not limited to DNA and RNA preparation and purification, molecular cloning, PCR, antibiotic susceptibility testing, growth of bacterial cultures, production of glycerol stock for long term storage.
Data entry and initial analysis; record maintenance.
The Lethbridge Research and Development Centre (LRDC) is one of the largest within Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's national network of research centres. The Centre has 54 research scientists and is located in southern Alberta. The Centre's research is focused in the areas of environmental health, bioproducts and bioprocesses, food safety and nutrition, and sustainable production systems. LRC has excellent facilities for dairy, sheep and beef cattle, including a research feedlot and carries on significant research in new and improved technologies for beef cattle production and beef quality.

Currently enrolled/or willing to enroll in a Maters of Science at the University of Manitoba with specialization in Food Science.
Experience pouring agar plates using aseptic techniques.
Experience with centrifugation of blood samples for separation.
Experience working with Microsoft word and Microsoft Excel.
In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
