The purpose of this process is to staff 1 term position until May 31st, 2019 with the possibility of extension and becoming indeterminate. The position requires a linguistic requirement of English Essential and a reliability security requirement. A pool of (fully or partially) qualified candidates may also be established to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual imperative and Bilingual non-imperative) and profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (reliability and secret) and conditions of employment and for various locations.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural science with acceptable specialization in forestry, terrestrial ecology, biology or some other science relevant to the position.
Experience in the field of forest ecology
Experience conducting basic statistical analyses (e.g., t-test, ANOVA, simple linear regression)
Experience using the R statistical environment and programming language
Experience using at least one other computer programming language besides R (e.g., Fortran, Python, Java, C++)
English essential
Information on language requirements
Knowledge of basic forest ecology principals
Knowledge of basic computer programming principals
Ability to write small computer programs (or scripts) for processing data
Effective oral communication
Ability to conduct basic data gathering and processing methods
Ability to conduct basic descriptive and inferential statistics (e.g., ANOVA)

A Master of Science Degree in Forest Science, Biology or an allied discipline (e.g., Environmental Science)
Experience with the Fortran and/or Python programming languages
Experience using GIS
Knowledge of the science of forest regeneration and succession.

Willing and able to travel within Canada (and abroad), including travel by car, rail and air
Willing and able to work overtime as required and to adopt flexible work hours as per operational requirements
