The Quality Engineering Test Establishment is an Assistant Deputy Minister (Materiel) field unit that provides the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces with specialized engineering investigative capabilities, performing specialized test and evaluation in the field and in the laboratory, and providing technical advice and services throughout all phases of Materiel Acquisition and Support. The Technical Specialty of Vibration Engineering provides an integral part of this capability within a specialized matrix environment with certified and highly skilled staff. As Lead Technologist – Vibration Engineering, your duties will consist of performing investigative testing, data analysis, and sensor instrumentation in support of DND/CF equipment platforms from the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force), the CAF (Canadian Armed Forces) and the RCN (Royal Canadian Navy).
The immediate need is to staff one indeterminate position.
A pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, various language requirements, and various security requirements in the National Capital Region.

Education:
ED1: A diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar diploma/degree in a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) or more years of cumulative and recent experience (obtained within the last five years) in a technical position working in two or more of the following technical competencies:
EX1: Computer Aided Design (CAD) and documents for design.
EX2: Conducting field or laboratory tests.
EX3: Conducting, planning and supervising scientific and engineering analyses.
EX4: Preparing technical and investigative reports or specifications.
EX5: Repair and maintenance of mechanical machinery and equipment.
AEX1: Experience in the installation of measuring equipment (such as strain gauges, accelerometers, displacement transducers).
AEX2: Experience in the installation of data acquisition systems.
AEX3: Experience with computer networking.
AEX4: Experience working with forklifts.
AEX5: Experience in the physical and chemical testing of materials.
AEX6: Experience in laboratory calibration.
AEX7: Experience in failure and accident investigation.

Must be able and willing to travel within and outside Canada.
Must be able and willing to travel to military installations, to deployed and garrison field units, and to military workshops and repair depots - sometimes on/in military vehicles, ships or aircraft.
Must be able and willing to witness test activities or otherwise carry out tasks in confined spaces, under adverse climatic or terrain conditions, while wearing protective clothing or equipment.
Must be able and willing to work overtime.
