The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates. The pool will be used to staff immediate needs and may be used in the future to staff identical or similar positions across Canada, with various tenures (casual, term, indeterminate) and various linguistic profiles within Fisheries and Oceans and Canadian Coast Guard.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in civil engineering or some other engineering discipline relevant to the duties of the position.
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada OR registered as an engineer in training in Canada (candidate must be registered prior to appointment).
The term "eligibility" for certification or membership in a professional association means that a candidate has met all academic and occupational requirements with respect to degrees, examinations, experience, etc. without having to have obtained or maintained actual registration, certification or membership.
Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment related to construction or maintenance of infrastructure. Candidate must have been responsible for at least 2 of the following: engineering design calculations, construction drawings, writing of technical specifications, cost estimates, project management.
Experience in evaluating architectural or engineering reports, analyzing results and recommending implementation options in support of infrastructure investment or rehabilitation initiatives.
Experience working with AutoCAD.
Experience in leading design projects in a civil engineering environment.
Experience in the design, construction, rehabilitation, repair, or maintenance of harbour structures or off-shore piers, or, experience in a field of engineering which would contribute to the conduct of these activities.
Experience in the inspection of civil infrastructure.
Experience in the design, manufacture, repair, or maintenance of power systems or low voltage electrical equipment.
Experience in the design, construction, rehabilitation, repair, or maintenance of towers or other telecommunications structures, or experience in a field of engineering which would contribute to the conduct of these activities.
Experience in the design or maintenance of Environmental response Equipment, or a field of engineering which would contribute to the conduct of these activities.

Willingness to travel and work overtime, including travel to remote locations by various modes of transportation (e.g. small and large aircraft, all-terrain vehicles, boats, helicopter, etc.).
