Intent of the process

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions, within the Department of National Defence, with various tenures such as indeterminate (permanent) and term (temporary).

The pool can be used to staff positions with various language requirements and various security requirements.

Information on language requirements

EDUCATION:
A High School diploma AND have completed an acceptable training program in Electronic Technology or Avionics or Telecommunications.

OR
Acceptable arrangement of studies, training and experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Significant* experience in repairing and installing VHF / UHF communication systems including mobile and vehicular.

Significant* experience in installing and troubleshooting audiovisual system.

* Significant experience: 2 years in the past 10 years

ABILITIES:
Ability to read and understand a communication plan.
Ability to install a radio frequency device (RF).
Ability to perform functionality and efficiency testing of radio frequency systems (RF).
Ability to communicate effectively verbally.

PERSONNAL SUITABILITY:
Demonstrating integrity and respect.
Thinking things through.
Working effectively with others.
Showing initiatives and being action-oriented.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

TRAINING:
Have completed a recognized training in AM and FM Receivers Transceivers, Antennas and RF Transmission lines.
Have completed a recognized training in distribution systems such as LMR, IPICS, and SEARS.
Hold a recognized certification or training in Crestron
Hold a recognized certification or training in Extron

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Significative experience in Programming communication systems (EG Motorola and Kenwood).

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Have or be able to obtain a DND driving permit (DND 404).

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance

Hold a valid (for example, in Province of Quebec, unrestricted and non-graduated Class 5 provincial driver’s licence) Provincial or territorial driver’s licence.

Be able to submit a satisfactory SAAQ report.


Working occasionally as part of short term assignments within Canada, the US or overseas.

Be willing to occasionally travel for training within Canada and US.

Be willing and able to work in different types of weather conditions.

Be willing and able to work at heights.

Be willing and able to work in confined spaces

Be willing and able to do overtime, as needed.


Be willing and able to wear CSA- approved footwear and any other personal protective equipment (PPE) required.


Apply strict security rules in the use or handling of controlled telecommunication equipment.
