Intent of the process

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL ONLY COMMUNICATE WITH THE CANDIDATES THAT HAVE SUCCESSFULLY PASSED THE PRE SCREENING PROCESS.

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) with various linguistic profiles (English essential, French or English Essential, BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC) and/or requirement as well as tenures (indeterminate, specified period) and/or the security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with acceptable specialization in social science, statistics, library/archival work or a law-related field.

NOTE: At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience that is comparable to the minimum education stated above, may serve as an alternative. Whenever the minimum educational standard is met through an alternative, it is met only for the position being staffed, and a candidate must be re-assessed for future appointments and deployments if the manager has asked for this alternative.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in one of the following: research, data analysis, policy development, policy co-ordination, program delivery, and partnership development;

Experience in developing briefing materials, presentations or other documents, with information coming from multiple sources;

Experience working with internal or external clients (within the Department, other Government Departments, Federal/Provincial, Non-Governmental Organization, private sector).

Various language requirements
The current positions to staff is English essential.

The pool could be used to staff English or French essential and Bilingual Imperative CCC/CCC, CBC/CBC or BBB/BBB positions.

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE :

Knowledge of qualitative research, quantitative methodologies and techniques.

Knowledge of Government of Canada priorities related to economic development or Aboriginal issues.

ABILITIES :

Ability to communicate effectively orally;

Ability to communicate effectively in writing;

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects;

Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information from various sources.

PERSONAL SUITABILITY:

Effective interpersonal skills;

Initiative;

Adaptability;

Discretion;

Reliability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation with a degree in land use planning, law, natural resources or political science;

Graduation with a Master’s of Arts, public administration or international relations degree;

Degree equivalency

Experience in conducting research or analysis in the area of Aboriginal issues.

CURRENT AND/OR FUTURE ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:
( Not essential, but preference may be given to candidates who possess the organizational needs)
