POSITION TITLE:
STREAM 1 : ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER – ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
STREAM 2 : ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER – ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
STREAM 3 : ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER – CONTAMINATED SITES
A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions within the Office of Infrastructure of Canada and/or Transport Canada with various tenures, various security clearance levels and/or various bilingual linguistic profiles.

EDUCATION
All Streams
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position such as biology, environmental/civil/chemical engineering, environmental sciences or environmental technology.
EXPERIENCE
All Streams
Experience in leading or coordinating environmental projects or environmental programs.
Experience in interpreting applicable environmental laws, or regulations, or governmental policy guidelines.
Stream 1:
Experience in environmental assessment.
Stream 2:
Experience in environmental protection.
Stream 3:
Experience in environmental site assessment and remediation.
Experience in planning, implementing, or managing projects.
ASSET - EDUCATION
All Streams
Graduation with a Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
ASSET - EXPERIENCE
Stream 1
Experience in providing advice on Aboriginal consultation.
Experience in conducting environmental assessments in accordance with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (2012), or comparative provincial and territorial legislation.
Stream 2
Experience in environmental management systems.
Stream 3
Experience in managing complex environmental site assessments, or human health and ecological risk assessments, or remedial action plans.
All Streams
Experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects.
Various language requirements

KNOWLEDGE
Stream 1:
Knowledge of federal environmental legislation, such as the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012, or comparative provincial/territorial legislation.
Knowledge of environmental impact assessment.
Stream 2:
Knowledge of Species at Risk Act, Canadian Environmental Protection Act, or comparative provincial/territorial legislation.
Knowledge of environmental protection.
Knowledge of project management.
Stream 3:
Knowledge of environmental site assessment or contaminated sites procedures and practices.
Knowledge of the regulatory framework (legislation, regulations or policies) related to contaminated sites.

The assessment could be administered through a written examination, an interview, a reference check and / or any other relevant assessment tools.
