The Canada Gazette Directorate is a team comprised of bilingual proofreaders that are professional and passionate by their work, and dedicated to serving Canadians. The offices are located in a modern work environment situated in the heart of downtown Ottawa. Bilingual proofreaders are equipped with the latest technology to perform their daily work.
The content that is published in the Canada Gazette differs in each publication, and the work of bilingual proofreaders is assuredly and continuously filled with challenges. The work of a bilingual proofreader at the Canada Gazette Directorate requires a linguistic expertise, precision, and is also focused on client service. The Canada Gazette is an essential element of the Canadian regulatory process and must be published according to legislated timelines, which means that Canada Gazette Directorate employees may sometimes be required to work overtime hours.
The immediate intention of this selection process is to fill one indeterminate position. A partially assessed pool may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department. These positions may be staffed either in Ottawa or in Gatineau for an appointment on an indeterminate or temporary basis.

EDUCATION:
Degree from a recognized university, with specialization in translation or in linguistics, or a major in literature.
EXPERIENCE:
Significant experience* in proofreading of legal or technical documents in both official languages.
Experience in using reference sources and Web-based search tools.
*Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally achieved through the performance of duties over an approximate 12-month period.
EXPERIENCE:
Significant experience* in the bilingual revision of English and French documents.
Experience in coordinating the production of a publication.
Experience using Adobe InCopy software.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the regulatory process of the Government of Canada.
ABILITIES:
Ability to perform on-screen comparison of the French and English versions of a text.
Ability to manage several files at the same time.
