ABOUT HEALTH CANADA
Health Canada is the Federal department responsible for helping Canadians maintain and improve their health, while respecting individual choices and circumstances.
Health Canada’s First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) supports the delivery of public health and health promotion services on-reserve and in Inuit communities as well as providing drug, dental and ancillary health services to First Nations and Inuit people regardless of residence. FNIHB also provides primary care services on-reserve in remote and isolated areas, where there are no provincial services readily available.
The intent is to staff this position via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program, which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal representation within First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. As such, Organizational Needs MAY be applied and first consideration MAY be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff casual, term and/or permanent positions at the CR-04 group and level.

EDUCATION:

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in providing clerical and/or administrative support services in a client-oriented work environment.
Experience in providing service to the public in person or by phone.
EDUCATION:
Post-secondary studies and/or diploma in an area relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with contracts, grants, contribution agreements and/or the purchasing of goods and services.
Experience in processing financial transactions, such as accounts payable/receivable and/or using a corporate credit card.
Experience providing financial, purchasing or travel support services.
Experience using a financial management system, such as SAP.
Experience working in a health, medical, laboratory or scientific program/services environment.
Experience organizing, tracking and managing equipment, such as inventory, fleet vehicles, etc.
Experience writing, editing and/or proofreading written materials such as business e-mails, letters, or briefing notes.
Experience scheduling and organizing teleconferences, video-conferences or meetings.
Experience providing record management services such as classifying, coding, indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retention or disposition.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:
In alignment with the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program (APEP) in support of increasing Aboriginal representation in areas having the most impact on program delivery and health outcomes of FNIHB’s target population, selection MAY be limited to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples. Aboriginal candidates must use the Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form (AAAF).
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to work overtime on weekdays or weekends (for some positions).
