Intent of the process

ANTICIPATORY PROCESS: A pool of qualified candidates may be created and used to staff similar positions within Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and its portfolio.

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree * from a recognized post-secondary institution **

* Degree: A baccalaureate or higher level degree, as established by educational authorities, unless the type of credential is specified in the relevant Qualification Standard.

** Recognized post-secondary institution: Public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs. It is the candidate's responsibility to demonstrate that the degree/program held has been approved by a "recognized" Canadian post-secondary institution. Failure to do so will result in the rejection of your application.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

1) Significant* experience, at a senior level, in building, collaborating and maintaining relationships and strategic partnerships with a diversity of internal and external stakeholders for the achievement of results with broad governmental and/or national impacts.

2) Significant* experience in analysing complex issues and consulting, negotiating and providing strategic advice to Ministers and senior officials, on issues relating to economic and social policy priorities of the Government.

3) Significant* experience in representing the Canadian government’s interest with private sector organizations and/or other governments and/or stakeholders.

4) Significant* experience in dealing with sensitive issues and in managing horizontal files with multiple departments or agencies.

5) Experience in managing significant* financial and complex** human resources matters.

* Significant experience is defined in terms of the depth, breadth and scope of experience normally acquired by having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, usually over a period of approximately three (3) years within the last five (5) years.

** Complex is defined in terms of leading a broad range of complex activities related to human resources, including performance management and talent management.
