AMENDEMENT TO CLOSING DATE - MAY 25, 2017
• Perform original (including complex) and copy cataloguing of all formats of library materials;
• Interpret and apply Library of Congress subject headings, the Dewey Decimal System, the AACR2; RDA and the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) manuals in cataloguing and classifying library materials;
• Maintain authority records and perform needed authority work in the ILS;
• Perform ILS maintenance for bibliographic and authority records;
• Provide assistance to cataloguing technicians in resolving difficult cataloguing problems;
• Resolve cataloguing/ILS problems and questions;
• Assess and analyze proposed new or enhanced cataloguing tools and services and develops options and recommendations;
• Maintain cataloguing statistics;
• Participate on project teams and committees and provide recommendations for the improvement and streamlining of cataloguing services;
• Provide backup functions within Technical Services.
The immediate need is to staff 1 indeterminate position.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar indeterminate or specified period employment or acting appointments.

EDUCATION:
•Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a master's degree in library science or in library and information science; or
•Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a bachelor's degree in library science or in library and information science for which another bachelor's degree was a prerequisite.
EXPERIENCE:
Recent* and significant* experience working with an integrated library system (ILS);
Recent* and significant* experience in cataloguing, classification standards and subject analysis of print and electronic materials.
Experience troubleshooting technical problems between the ILS and the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC).
*Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth, breadth and diversity of experience normally acquired through performing a broad range of various, complex activities over a period of approximately three (3) years within the last five (5) years.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience using the Cataloguing module of Millennium or Sierra Integrated Library System.
Experience using Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC);
Experience developing and delivering training to support library cataloguing functions;
Experience using Resource Description and Access (RDA);
Experience working in other sections within Technical Services of a Library.
