Intent of the process

Toronto : The immediate need is to offer a 1-year opportunity via a term appointment for candidates that are either already term employees or that are from outside the federal public service OR offer an acting, assignment or secondment opportunity of the same duration to candidates that are currently indeterminate federal public servants.

Winnipeg: The immediate need is to offer a 6-month opportunity via a term appointment for candidates that are either already term employees or that are from outside the federal public service OR offer an acting, assignment or secondment opportunity of the same duration to candidates that are currently indeterminate federal public servants.

Calgary: The immediate need is to offer a 2-year opportunity via a term appointment for candidates that are either already term employees or that are from outside the federal public service OR offer an acting, assignment or secondment opportunity of the same duration to candidates that are currently indeterminate federal public servants.

Vancouver: The need is anticipatory, in the event of future vacancies.

This process will be used to create a pool of qualified candidates to draw from in the event of future vacancies within Global Affairs Canada with various language requirements and linguistic profiles (i.e. English essential, French essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC or CCC/CCC), which may vary according to the position being staffed. Tenures may vary according to the position (Indeterminate, Specified Period, Acting appointment, Assignment, Secondment). We therefore encourage all interested candidates to apply.

PLEASE NOTE: This selection process will be used to staff non-mobile positions only. Being found qualified as part of this process will not result in appointments to the department's CO mobile pool.

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in a field related to the requirements of the position (e.g. commerce, marketing, business administration, economics, and international trade or development) or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

*Degree is a baccalaureate or higher level degree, as established by educational authorities.

EXPERIENCE:

Significant* experience in business development for the private sector

Experience in analyzing information

Experience in providing service to clients

Experience in developing action plans and proposals

Experience in planning and organizing business development projects and initiatives

Experience in developing and delivering strategic presentations to clients or partners

Experience in developing and effectively managing networks of clients, partners or stakeholders

**Significant experience is understood to mean the breadth, depth and diversity of experience normally acquired through performing a broad range of complex tasks that is typically acquired through filling one or more officer level positions for at least three (3) years.

Certified International Trade Professional designation (FITT)

ASSET EXPERIENCE:

Experience in international business development and trade promotion

Experience in analyzing trade or economic issues, or developing trade/business policies
