Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions (indeterminate, assignment, secondment, deployment, acting, specified period) within Environment and Climate Change Canada with various linguistic requirements and profiles, security levels, tenures, and locations across Canada (Vancouver, Edmonton, Downsview, Gatineau, Dartmouth or Mount Pearl).

Employees of Environment and Climate Change Canada and other federal departments at the same group and level or equivalent may be considered first for deployment.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

• ED1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or some other science relevant to the position.

Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experience :

• EX1. *Significant and recent experience working with the development, implementation, compliance, or enforcement of federal or provincial regulations or standards on chemical accidents, environmental emergencies, workplace chemical hazards, or process safety management.
• EX2. *Significant and recent experience building relationships or partnerships with external stakeholders such as provincial and municipal governments, industry or industry associations, or non-governmental organizations.
• EX3. *Significant experience in developing or reviewing technical or scientific reports related to protecting the environment and/or human health.
• EX4. *Significant and recent experience providing advice and briefings to management on issues related to protecting the environment or human health.

*Significant and recent experience is defined as a minimum of 3 years of work experience within the last 10 years, as well as the type (range, scope and complexity) of work handled.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Education:

• AED1. Graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a relevant specialization such as chemistry or chemical or process safety engineering.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

• AEX1. **Experience with hazard risk assessment and risk management of industry processes for chemical accident prevention, preparedness and response measures.
• AEX2. **Experience in the design or inspection of industry chemical processes.
• AEX3. **Experience reviewing proposed projects and providing advice on accidents and malfunctions for the purposes of environmental assessment.
• AEX4. **Experience in using Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
• AEX5. **Experience in using database applications such as Microsoft Access.

**Experience is defined as 1 year of work experience.
