These positions are located in Iqaluit, Pilimmaksaivik (Federal Centre of Excellence for Inuit Employment in Nunavut). The salary range for this position is: $58,281 to $62,794 (under review) plus applicable allowances (approximately $18,000/year to $32,000/year), as well as vacation travel assistance (approximately $2,000-$3,000 per person (i.e. the employee and eligible dependents, including spouse/common-law partner), twice per year). Rates and conditions subject to change.

Located in Iqaluit, Pilimmaksaivik (Federal Centre of Excellence for Inuit Employment in Nunavut) is a new federal office, established in April of 2016. Pilimmaksaivik was created to support a ‘whole-of-government’ approach (one that works across several federal departments and agencies) to support the Government of Canada build toward a representative public service in Nunavut, including its obligations under Article 23 of the Nunavut Agreement.
As the Program Officer you will be directly supporting two Program Managers and the Director of Pilimmaksaivik in the development and implementation of Government of Canada (GoC) Inuit employment and pre-employment training plans. This will involve project coordination, cooperating with various GoC departments and agencies as well as external partners such as Inuit organizations and the Government of Nunavut. You will quickly gain a breadth of knowledge and experience as you work with federal and external partners and stakeholders to develop and implement training and other initiatives to support increasing Inuit employment in the Nunavut-based Government of Canada positions.

The intent of this selection process is to staff 2 temporarily positions to commence immediately for a period until March 31, 2019, with the possibility of permanent employment at a later date
A pool of qualified candidates will be established that can be used by Federal departments / agencies in Iqaluit (Nunavut) for similar permanent and temporary employment.
Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement (e.g. Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement) who are found qualified in this staffing process will be appointed ahead of other qualified applicants.
Applicants will be considered in the following order:

Knowledge of agencies and associations representing Nunavut Inuit, private sector organizations and non-governmental organizations that provide services and/or training for Nunavut Inuit.

This selection process may be limited to candidates self-identifying as Inuit enrolled under the "Nunavut Agreement”. This organizational need can be applied at any step in the selection process. When there are sufficient applicants who are Inuit enrolled under the "Nunavut Agreement", the manager has the discretion to assess and appoint those individuals first and then assess and appoint other candidates into any remaining positions. In other cases, the manager may assess all applicants at the same time and apply the organizational need criteria on a case by case basis when a Nunavut Inuk is found qualified.
This is not currently an indeterminate position. It will be staffed through on a secondment, assignment, term, acting or interchange basis commencing in 2017/18 through until the end of 2018/19.
This selection process may be used to create a pool of qualified candidates for use by other federal departments and agencies operating in Nunavut.
*Note: Interchange Canada (https://www.canada.ca/en/treasury-board-secretariat/services/professional-development/interchange-canada.html) facilitates temporary assignments of individuals working outside the Government of Canada (for example, employees of Inuit organizations, Government of Nunavut, the private sector etc.) to work within its public services.
