Duties

The Corporate Governance Division is seeking a highly motivated team player to work on issues related to the assessment of corporate governance, risk governance, strategic governance and compensation practices and processes at federally regulated financial institutions (FRFI’s). The successful candidate will assist in the analysis and identification of both sound practices and emerging trends across the financial sector.

Intent of the process

This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles and requirements, security profiles and various tenures.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
● A university degree with specialization in commerce, accounting, business, finance, economics, actuarial science, business administration OR a combination of education, experience and training.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
● Supervisory experience with financial institutions or recent and significant experience working in the financial services industry* in one of the following areas: Risk Management (credit, market or operational risk), Internal/External Audit, Financial analysis/management, or another relevant area assessing corporate governance, risk governance, strategic governance, compensation practices or internal audit functions.

*Financial services industry experience is defined as experience working in a financial institution, including banks, insurance companies, pension funds, wealth management firms, and accounting firms (dealing with audits), as well as government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions.

● Experience in liaising with and making presentations to Senior Management and Boards of Directors at FRFIs.

● Experience leading projects, including scoping, criteria development and synthesizing and communicating results.

● Experience in leading/managing staff or developing/coaching staff.

● Experience in writing reports and/or letters for distribution widely within a department, to more senior levels, externally or to one or more internal departments.

ASSET KNOWLEDGE
● Extensive knowledge of current and emerging risks in the areas of corporate governance and compensation.

● Knowledge of new regulatory requirements, international developments, particularly as they relate to corporate governance and compensation.
