LOCATION:
Toronto-based position. The successful candidate could work remotely from one of the OSFI offices across Canada; the one closest to their place of residence. Working remotely will require travel to Toronto.
The Managing Director is responsible for leading teams carrying out the supervision of property and casualty insurance companies regulated by OSFI. The position oversees the activities carried out in assessing the safety and soundness of the financial institutions, identifying unsafe practices and taking direct and early intervention, as appropriate. The position is expected to provide high quality support through empowerment and delegation and by giving employees the necessary tools and professional development to carry out their responsibilities. This position is also responsible for providing tactical and operational advice to the Senior Director, as well as represents OSFI with external stakeholders and will influence regulatory policy, where appropriate.
Other responsibilities of the position include key operational support accountabilities for PCG including: providing advice, recommendations and direction to internal management issues such as business planning/human resource planning, etc.; annual work planning; and, interacting with working groups involved in various Insurance Supervision projects. The position also provides oversight to the Securities Administration Unit which is responsible for administering the vested asset regime for foreign insurance branches, reinsurance collateral (trust) agreements and capital equivalency deposits for foreign branch branches.
The immediate intent of this process is to fill one indeterminate position on a Bilingual Imperative (CBC/CBC) basis.
This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates, which may be used to staff identical positions with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements (English Essential, Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC), security profiles (reliability or secret) and various tenures (term, indeterminate, assignment, acting and deployment), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
● A university degree with specialization in finance, accounting, actuarial science, economics, business administration, mathematics, or other relevant area OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
● Recent and significant experience working within the P&C insurance industry in finance, risk management, reinsurance etc., and/or recent and significant supervisory/regulatory experience.
● Experience dealing with risk management issues for P&C companies of varying sizes and complexity requiring extensive analysis and recommendations for resolution.
● Recent experience in leading/managing or developing/coaching staff.
● Experience managing multiple projects.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE
