The successful candidate will participate in field ecological studies of Snow Buntings and Common Eiders at Southampton Island, Nunavut. The candidate is expected to be on travel status for the entire length of the employment and will be given board and lodging.

The student must be currently enrolled in a Master's program in a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in biology, ecology, or some other science relevant to the position.

Experience* leading trapping and banding of wintering Snow Buntings.
Experience* conducting wildlife ecological field studies in arctic environments.
Experience* collecting and identifying insects.
Significant experience** collecting blood samples from birds.
Significant experience** safely capturing birds using mist nets and walk-in traps.
Significant experience** working on boats in a marine environment.
Significant experience** conducting video analysis of wildlife behavior.
Experience* deploying transmitters on passerines.
*Experience refers to the amount of experience normally obtained through at least one season of field work.
** Significant experience refers to the experience normally obtained over 2 field seasons of a given activity.
