Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Statistics Canada with various tenures (Indeterminate, determinate, acting, assignments, secondment and deployments), with various language requirements and various security requirements.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a college diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in interior design, architectural engineering technology or architecture.

Note 1: Candidates who have higher levels of education in interior design, architectural engineering technology or architecture are encouraged to apply.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Recent* and significant* experience in the fields of Office Planning, Interior Design OR Architecture.
• Experience producing final accommodation layouts and floor plans in AutoCAD.
• Recent* experience designing office layouts using integrated systems furniture complete with Telecommunications, EDP and LAN systems provisions.

*Recent is defined as having performed the duties within the last five (5) years.
*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full-time performance of duties for a minimum of three (3) years.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:
Knowledge of technical terminology and standards applicable to the provision of accommodations.
Knowledge of products available and overall trends in the field of accommodations.
Knowledge of the Public Services and Procurement Canada Workplace 2.0 Standards.
Knowledge of applicable building codes; federal government accommodations management legislation, polices, standards and practices.

Abilities and Skills:
Ability to provide design, facilities or planning advice.
Ability to manage projects, and produce related cost estimates.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to work under pressure due to imposed deadlines, multiple and competing priorities, and heavy workloads.

Asset Qualifications:
• Experience in construction management or project management.
• Experience preparing construction plans and specifications.
• Experience in architectural drafting.
• Experience scheduling multiple trades and project elements to achieve an integrated objective.

In order to manage the number of applications in this selection process, management may use top-down or random selection at various steps in the process to determine the number of candidates who will continue in the process.

Candidates must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position.
