The work must be conducted in a CFIA-certified containment facility which is located on the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa. The candidate must be registered in a M.Sc. program in the Department of Biology at Carleton University in Ottawa. The Department of Biology at Carleton is the partner institution for the type of research to be conducted.
To conduct research on the biological control of the diamondback moth. Specific duties include: conducting field surveys in Ontario to collect lepidopteran species for rearing and conducting experimental studies; evaluating the potential of selected parasitoids for introduction into Canada; analyzing and summarizing data and writing reports.
Various other assigned duties.
Under the supervision of a research scientist, the successful candidate will support research in the area of entomology and biological control (risk assessment). The work is performed in office/laboratory/field and involves conducting the work in the Centre.

Currently enrolled or eligible to enroll in a Master’s program at Carleton University with specialization in arthropod biological control or related field.
Experience developing and implementing studies on the distribution of animal species in terrestrial or aquatic habitats.
Experience collecting and synthesizing experimental data
Experience rearing insect host and parasitoid species
English essential
