As the communication link to on-duty police officers, the Operational Communications Centre (OCC) dispatchers have their fingers on the pulse of the RCMP daily operations.
With various police systems at their disposal, the dispatchers are able to tell police officers if a car they pulled over is stolen, if a person's driver's license is valid or if he or she has a criminal record.
As OCC is a central area for communicating police bulletins, the dispatchers relay information from other police forces to the RCMP and vice-versa.
The OCC's dispatchers and supervisors work out of a state-of-the-art facility. They provide service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year
The intent of the process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates at the PO-TCO-01 group and level.
Candidates who are qualified at the TCO-01 level and who are selected for the Telecommunications Operator Training Program will be appointed to a determinate (term) appointment at the TCO-01 group and level.
Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of one year and may be extended.
