Intent of the process

There is currently a need to staff one position on an indeterminate basis. However a pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar or equivalent positions of various durations in Transport Canada in Sept-Iles, Quebec.

EDUCATION
Vocational diploma in electricity, electromechanical or equivalent

Degree equivalency

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
Hold a valid certificate as an electrician, license C (excluding construction work), issued by Emploi-Québec.

EXPERIENCE
- Recent* and significant** experience in industrial and/or institutional electrical distribution networks, from high voltage (4.16Kv) to low voltage
- Recent* and significant** experience, as an electrician, in preventive maintenance, reparation and modification of electric components of installations and equipment in industrial and institutional environments
- Recent* and significant** experience in preventive maintenance, reparation and modification of instrumentation, control and automation systems
- Experience in using the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) or equivalent.

• Definition:
*Recent experience* means experience acquired in the last five (5) years.
**Significant experience** means the scope and breadth of the experience acquired in performing the tasks for at least two (2) continuous years.

- In-depth knowledge of theories, principles and practices of electricity used in institutional and industrial environments
- Knowledge of generators and control systems
- Knowledge of methods of maintenance and use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, cable fault locators, voltmeters and ammeters
- Knowledge of electrical safety principles
- Knowledge of the Quebec Construction Code, Chapter V - Electricity.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) from a recognized institution in Technical Electrical Engineering or electrodynamic, industrial electronics technology, or in instrumentation and controls.

Degree equivalency

- Experience working in an airport environment
- Experience with high-voltage series lighting circuits
- Experience in overseeing subcontractors during the performance of minor work.
- Hold a valid firearms licence
- Hold a restricted radiotelephone operator certificate
- Hold an Airport Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP)

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Successfully complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (course and exam) in order to obtain a firearms license
- Successfully complete the restricted radio-telephone test
- Successfully complete the exam in order to obtain an airport Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP)
