Intent of the process

Two pools (1 EG-03 and 1 EG-04) of qualified candidates will be established ANTICIPATORY and may be used to staff term or indeterminate positions or for assignment, secondment, deployment or acting appointments.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in geomatics or in another relevant specialty for the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and / or recent experience * in geomatics.

*Recent experience = Over the last three years

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL FOR EG-03 AND EG-04 LEVELS

Recent and significant experience** working in geomatics, especially in the design of thematic maps using the tools of the ArcGIS platform (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, etc.).

Experience in research, compilation and organization of geographic data.

Experience in the design and creation of geodatabases with multiple feature classes and topology error correction.

Experience in orthorectification and photo-interpretation of aerial imagery.

Experience in managing geospatial data (e.g. metadata, warehousing, publishing, etc.).

Experience in the use and preparation of high-precision GPS in the field.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AT THE EG-04 LEVEL:

Experience in developing technical procedures to automate and reproduce cartographic processing.

Experience in analyzing cartographic procedures and writing technical documents.

** Recent and significant experience: At least one year over the last three years. It should normally be an experience corresponding to the complexity, importance and scope of the functions to be performed.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a discipline related to the environment, biology or any other scientific discipline related to the position duties.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

Experience in Python programming.

Experience with image processing software such as PCI Geomatica and / or eCognition.

Experience building infrastructure to use and process very large data sets.

Experience in the use of various types of vehicles and technical equipment in field work (eg, boats, canoes, ATVs, etc.).

Ability to use ArcGIS software to perform map processing on geographic data.

Ability to design, build and maintain geomatics data storage solutions.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and on several projects at a time.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Ability to work as a team.

SPECIFIC CAPACITY AT THE EG-04 LEVEL :

Ability to carry out quality control (validation, corrections, recommendations) on cartographic products and technical procedures.
