Consulting with officials of clients such as Government of the Yukon, Aboriginal Affairs, Parks Canada, and First Nations to determine their survey, needs, to explain products and services available from or through the Surveyor General Branch.
Investigating and research (in the field and in the office) survey projects requested by clients to determine the necessity, nature and amount of work involved and, preparing proposals for cadastral related projects, including schedules, deliverables, costs, and methods of completion.
Preparing Requests for Proposals (RFP's) detailing technical specifications, developing assessment criteria and assessing bids, and making a recommendation in the case of multiple bidders.
Conducting monitoring of progress on projects, including on-site inspections, providing reports to clients, mediating agreement on modifications to the terms of the project, reviewing contract returns for compliance with contract specifications, and recommending payments.
Negotiating Memoranda of Understanding with clients for the provision of survey services, detailing the specific products and services to be provided for, and submitting the proposed agreement to the Regional Manager for review.
Issuing Survey Instructions and approving survey plans in accordance with legislation and agreements.
Providing professional survey advice to clients, land surveyors, lawyers, and others on the Canada Lands Surveys and provincial systems, on present and historical survey practices, and interpretation of survey evidence in resolving boundary disputes, including making visits to sites of trespass or dispute, and proposing solutions to those involved.
Providing information to clients on survey processes and recommending courses of action to facilitate acquisition, disposal and development of Canada Lands, and to administer aspects of land management.
Liaising with other government agencies concerning the content and production of legal descriptions for use in orders in council to create or to effect changes to the extent of Canada Lands.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada in Yellowknife, Whitehorse or Iqaluit only, at the EN-SUR-03 group and level with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual), various methods for staffing a bilingual position (imperative and/or non-imperative), and various profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability Status, Secret), and with various conditions of employment.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
►A Canada Lands Surveyor’s Commission or a licence to practice by the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors or a licence or authority to practice as a land surveyor in any province in Canada.
NOTE: If this requirement is met by having a licence or authority to practice as a land surveyor in a province, then the successful candidate must obtain a Canada Lands Surveyor's Commission and licence to practice within 1 year of appointment to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
