The CRTC is a federal administrative tribunal of about 450 employees that serves Canadians as citizens, creators and consumers, and is committed to providing them with access to a world-class communication system.
At the CRTC, we engage in a wide range of activities. Notably, we supervise and regulate over 2,000 broadcasters, including TV services and AM and FM radio stations. This is done through a number of different activities:
. Developing regulatory policies for Canada's communication system;
. Issuing, renewing and amending licenses for broadcasting distribution and programming undertakings;
. Monitoring and reporting on the Canadian communication system, which includes monitoring the programming and financial performance of broadcasting undertakings to ensure compliance with regulations and conditions of licence.
Furthermore, in an article it published on October 2015, the Hill Times indicated that the CRTC ranks in the top 10 best places to work in the federal public service.

The immediate need is to staff (1) one position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff similar or identical positions, with various tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period, assignment, secondment), as well as various linguistic or security requirements or profiles.

EDUCATION AND/OR OCCUPATION CERTIFICATION:
A secondary school diploma, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Recent* and significant** experience providing advice and recommendations on cases related to the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.
Experience in managing a number of files or cases concurrently involving various issues or complexities.
Recent* and significant** experience working on requests received under to the Access to Information and Privacy Acts, including reviewing, assessing deadlines, identifying sensitive information, etc.
Experience in providing information or advice to clients.
*Recent means within the past five (5) years.
**Significant means: The depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various and complex related activities.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of Privacy or Access to Information courses from an accredited institution.
Experience using ATIP software.
Experience working in an ATIP Office.
Experience working in a small*** government department or agency.
***Small department or agency is defined by an organization falling under the core jurisdiction of the PSC or its extended jurisdiction as listed in the Financial Administration Act (Schedules I, IV & V), for which Treasury Board is the employer and which have less than 1000 occupied positions.

Knowledge of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.
Knowledge of Treasury Board of Canada’s policies, directives, standards and guidelines related to the Access to Information and Privacy Acts.
Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of government departments and agencies in relation to the Access to Information Act and Privacy Act.
ABILITIES & SKILLS:
Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Ability to research information related to the Policies and Guidelines as it pertains to the Access to Information Act.

Pass marks will be established for each qualifications. However, achieving the pass mark is not a guarantee of an appointment or that candidates will be put through the next stages of the assessment process. A cut-off score may be used and top-down approach may be used at any step if there is a sufficient number of candidates to meet immediate and anticipated staffing needs.
A random and/or top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.
