EDUCATION AND/OR OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in geomatics engineering or science (or equivalent) and a Canada Lands Surveyor's Commission along with a valid License to Practice (or the ability to obtain a license through labour mobility agreements).
**The Surveyor General is required by international treaties to be an expert geographer or surveyor.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in providing professional and technical advice and solutions to senior officials (up to minister equivalent level) on policy, program, business line (legal and geodetic surveys) and legal boundary issues.
Experience in strategic leadership of a multi-disciplined land related organization and implementing innovative solutions for geospatial service delivery.
Experience applying collaboration and negotiating skills with partners in land management communities to deliver modern land administration regimes.
Experience in managing human and financial resources. (Please indicate number of employees supervised as well as size and type of budget managed).
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of government priorities and NRCan’s mandate.
Knowledge of statutes and principles applied to legal boundary determination.
Knowledge of emerging earth measuring technologies such as Global Navigation Satellite Systems and their current and potential application to geospatial and geoscience service delivery.
Knowledge of the development of the Canada-United States boundary and of the treaty and statutory provisions that affect it.

EDUCATION
A graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
Experience and established leadership profile in the geomatics or geoscience community with a track record of driving change.
Experience in demonstrating leadership and aspirations towards supporting the Public Good in professional and/or personal activities.
Experience in addressing land related issues in Indigenous and northern communities.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of stakeholder interests and the political, economic and social context of diverse Indigenous perspectives towards land and land tenure; and of the services provided by the Surveyor General’s Office, International Boundary Commission and the Canadian Geodetic Survey, to clients and stakeholders.
Knowledge of contemporary land records management, on-line service delivery and Geographic Information Systems.
Candidates may be required to meet the asset qualifications or the
organizational needs, depending on the requirements of the specific position
being staffed.
