OSFI is a world-class financial regulator responsible for the regulation and supervision of all federally registered Canadian financial institutions. OSFI also monitors federally regulated private pension plans and provides actuarial advice to the Government of Canada. OSFI's prime responsibility is to protect the rights and interests of policyholders, depositors and pension plan members, and contribute to public confidence in Canada's financial system.
The Life Insurance Group is a division of the Insurance Supervision Sector at OSFI, responsible for supervising all Federally regulated Life Insurance Institutions. The Life Insurance Group is looking for a highly motivated and confident individual with extensive experience in the life insurance industry to participate in the supervision, analysis and assessment of the financial condition, risk profile and risk management practices of federally regulated life insurance and reinsurance financial institutions. This position contributes to the overall safety and soundness of federally regulated financial institutions through performance of supervisory activities in accordance with OSFI’s Supervisory Framework. The Supervisory Framework can be found on OSFI’s website. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate his or her strength in the following competencies: judgment, initiative, critical thinking, teamwork and cooperation, and excellent oral and written communication.
This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates, which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles and requirements, security profiles and various tenures.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
● A university degree in business, actuarial science, economics, accounting or other relevant field or an acceptable combination of education, experience and training.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
● Recent and significant experience in life insurance and/or reinsurance in at least two or more of the following areas:
- Life insurance accounting and financial analysis,
- Actuarial pricing and/or valuation,
- Identification of key risks and the development, assessment and measurement of risk management oversight systems, strategy, policies, procedures and practices in life insurance.
● Experience in the preparation of senior executive level reports.
● Experience communicating and presenting complex issues to senior executives within the life insurance industry.
● Experience in analyzing financial reporting specific to the life insurance and/or reinsurance industry, including capital.

ASSET EDUCATION
