Intent of the process

The process is intended to staff positions within RCMP "D" Division Headquarters building, downtown locations and positions at RCMP detachments within a 40 km radius of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. Failing to do so could result in your application being rejected.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience providing clerical or administrative support.

Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software.

Experience in providing assistance to managers or clients.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience processing invoices for payment.

Experience providing record management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retention, archiving or destroying data.

Experience in data entry, extraction and preparation of reports utilizing a database system.

Experience using CPIC (Canadian Police Information System).

Experience using PROS (Police Reporting and Occurrence System).

Certification in keyboarding at 40 wpm with less than 5% error.

Ability to transcribe documents.

Preference may be given to RCMP employees impacted/affected by work force adjustment.

Some positions may require overtime on occasion.
Some positions may require part-time hours.
Some positions may include shiftwork.
Some positions may require a possession of a Class 5 Driver Licence or the personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid driver’s licence.
Some positions may require the physical effort to lift boxes or groups of files that weigh up to 30 lbs.

Conditions of employment

Various levels of security clearance from RCMP Reliability to RCMP Top Secret.

Some positions may include shiftwork.

Other information

The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Reliability Status. The candidate must not have a Criminal Record. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

Assessment for this process will take place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The cost to attend the assessment will be the candidate's responsibility. If you are currently employed with the Federal Public Service, please let us know your current group and level as well as your tenure and the Department you are working for.

External candidates may be eligible for the initial appointment relocation entitlement of up to $5000 if they are not currently a federal public service employee.

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.

All communication relating to this process, including e-mail correspondence may be used in the assessment of qualifications.

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies, similar positions, for term, permanent and acting, at full or part time hours within the area of selection.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.
