Intent of the process

The intent of this to fill two positions on term basis.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates could be created and could be used to fill similar or identical positions with various tenure, security clearance or linguistic requirement. The pool of candidates could be used to offer acting appointments, assignments, secondments or transfers.

EDUCATION :
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in electrical engineering, electronic engineering or some other specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

EXPERIENCE :
- Significant* practical experience planning, executing, and documenting the design and development of hardware or software.
- Significant* practical experience in one or more of following areas:
1) Radio Frequency (RF) microwave digital systems or subsystems;
2) microwave antenna systems;
3) computational electromagnetics, including: specification, design, modeling and simulation, implementation, integration, testing, or troubleshooting.

* At least 4 years Engineering experience.

KNOWLEDGE :
- Knowledge of concepts and practical application of bench test and measurement procedures for the characterization and evaluation of digital circuits, devices, and sub-systems in RF microwave digital systems.
- Knowledge of microwave antenna systems,
- (Stream 1 only) Knowledge of microwave system architectures including the design and operation of frequency up-conversion/down-conversion between RF, Intermediate Frequency (IF), and baseband.
- (Stream 1 only) Knowledge of RF components including: low-noise and power amplifiers, oscillator circuits (voltage-controlled, phase-locked loops), filters, switches, and mixers, for wideband or high-dynamic range applications.
- (Stream 2 only) Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) theory and practice, and digital system control, and system integration.
- (Stream 2 only) Knowledge of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) firmware design, development, and testing using VHDL, Verilog, or other equivalent programming tools.

ABILITIES :
- Ability to test and troubleshoot systems under development, and equipment used for testing purposes.
- Ability to use commercial-off-the-shelf software packages in one or more of following areas: microwave system design, digital signal processing, FPGA, computational electromagnetics, 3D real-world M&S.

- Experience working with people, organization and partners in a Research and Development (R&D) environment
- Experience working with Radar Electronic Warfare (REW) or radar in a R&D environment
- Experience in costing, contract bid evaluation, acceptance testing, design review, and implementation of research and development projects
- Experience using System Tool Kit (AGI)
- Experience using SystemVue (Keysight)
- Experience using MATLAB/Simulink;
- (Stream 1 only) Experience using computational electromagnetic tools for examples: High Frequency Structural Simulator (HFSS), General Electromagnetic Solver (GEMS)
- (Stream 2 only) Experience using Mathworks tools for data acquisition and signal processing.

KNOWLEDGE :
- Knowledge of principles and application of radar (theory and systems) or digital RF receivers and emitters and/or electronic warfare (EW)
- Knowledge of digital circuit design
- Knowledge of analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters
- Knowledge of principles of applied mathematics and/or physics
- Knowledge of using GPS signal for data stamping during data recording
- (Stream 1 only) Knowledge of digital signal processing theory and practice.
- (Stream 2 only)Knowledge of computational electromagnetics

RECOGNITION :
- Evidence of writing or contributing to published technical documents, product manuals, design and development plans.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, especially during trials.
