EDUCATION

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

NOTES:

1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

2. It is a recognized educational institution (e.g., community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.

3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. S11 AE1. Experience in system and network security.
S11 AE2. Experience supporting Microsoft Windows or UNIX operating system environments consisting of more than five servers.
S11 AE3. Experience performing systems administration including managing operating systems, application and database servers, and resolving hardware and network software problems.
S11 AE4. Experience with the design and integration of complex***** data storage, backups and archival solutions in an enterprise environment.
S11 AE5. Experience with remote server and application support.
S11 AE6. Experience planning, implementing, and managing virtualized server environments, such as UNIX or VMWare or zVM.
S11 AE7. Experience in maintaining multiple operational and deployed networks.
S11 AE8. Experience with the integration of IM/IT systems and hardware with complex***** production or lab equipment.
S11 AE9. EXTENSIVE*** experience working with industry standard protocols in a Wide Area Network environment.
S11 AE10. RECENT* experience utilizing network management products, diagramming tools and methods for the management of network services.

Stream 12: IM/IT Service Manager
S12 AE1. RECENT* experience developing, maintaining, managing or providing oversight on Service Level Agreements (SLA).
S12 AE2. A minimum of two years’ experience providing direct service support to customers or customer organizations.

Stream 13: IM/IT Operations Manager
S13 AE1. Experience in designing, developing and directing the implementation of IM/IT operations.
S13 AE2. Experience in managing and controlling the IM/IT operations system software.
S13 AE3. Experience in designing, developing and directing application enhancement or development projects.
S13 AE4. Experience in In-Service Equipment Management.

Operational Requirements

Depending on the position being staffed ONE OR MORE of the following may be required:
