Our office is located in Canada Place at 9700 Jasper Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta (https://goo.gl/maps/HGCdvAZ7muk). Our workplace is in close proximity to Churchill Square, the river valley and many restaurants. It has several bus and LRT stops close by, as well as parking lots in the vicinity which makes it very easy to get to and from work.

This advertisement is for an inventory to fill future vacancies. As positions become available, hiring managers may request referrals from the inventory.

Duties

This work will appeal to you if:

On a day to day basis you can expect to:
• Perform clerical functions to support business stream activities.
• Communicate with clients and team to obtain and provide required information.
• Read, interpret and input information in order to respond to requests, and to process transactions while demonstrating thoroughness and timeliness.

We are looking for individuals who have:

A secondary school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.

This combination will include your successful completion of grade 11 in addition to two years cumulative experience providing clerical functions or customer service (this could include, but is not limited to: data entry, filing, answering telephone calls, preparing written correspondence, providing assistance to customers, serving the public). In addition, if you have two years of other schooling or training (e.g. non-high school), this may also be considered for education.

Degree equivalency

Experience in providing clerical or customer services.
(This could include, but is not limited to: data entry, filing, photocopying, answering telephone calls, taking messages, preparing written correspondence, providing assistance to customers, serving the public, scheduling and booking meetings, etc.)

Experience in using email, word processing and spreadsheet software (such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel).

English essential
The working language of the position is English Essential. This means that you must be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to perform the duties and tasks of the position.

(This is defined as having good attendance, being punctual; performing duties with minimal supervision; consistently completing tasks accurately and on time.)

(This is defined as ensuring that information is complete, accurate and that errors are corrected; ensuring that small details are not overlooked; accurate data entry.)

Adaptability.
(This is defined as calmly approaching and adjusting to unexpected circumstances; willing to change and try new ways of doing things.)

Thinking things through.
(This is defined as identifying the information needed to clarify a situation, seeking that information from appropriate sources, organizing information and using relevant information to appropriately reach a solution or conclusion.)

Depending on the position, hiring managers may establish asset merit criteria specific to the position. Below are the qualifications currently considered desirable for the candidate to possess:

Experience in using databases.

Experience in preparing and coordinating correspondence
including meeting agendas and minutes.

Experience in providing administrative support in an office
environment.

Experience reconciling budgets, invoices and/or receipts.

Experience working with First Nation clients.

Initiative.

Depending on the position, hiring managers may establish operational requirement specific to the position.

Willing and able to work overtime on short notice.
