Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis in Ottawa, Ontario.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the Health Portfolio with:

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in epidemiology or another relevant health discipline.*

Notes:
*Five courses are required for the specialization in epidemiology or another relevant health discipline but do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization (economics, sociology or statistics) must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience :

EX1 – Significant* experience in managing research projects, including collaborating with researchers or health professionals within and outside government.
EX2 – Recent** and significant* experience designing and conducting*** systematic reviews.
EX3 – Significant* experience in providing analysis, and recommendations to senior officials****on complex***** issues.
EX4 – Experience conducting research, including evidence of scientific productivity, such as scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals and communication of research in scientific fora.
EX5 – Experience in writing clinical or public health guidelines.

Experience 4 and 5, will be assessed using example(s) of previous publications.
* Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties for a period of approximately two (2) years.
** Recent experience is defined as experience normally acquired within the last four-five (4-5) years.
*** Conducting includes screening, data extraction, evidence synthesis and interpretation.
**** Senior officials is defined as Director level or equivalent.
***** Complex is defined as multidimensional activities that involve multiple stakeholders.
