A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, various linguistic requirements, language requirements and profiles, various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, geoscience, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.

Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experience operating laser ablation plasma-based analytical instrumentation (ICP-MS).
Experience performing elemental analysis of geological materials.
Experience processing, compiling, synthesizing and analyzing analytical data for quality control purposes.
Experience implementing new elemental and/or isotopic analytical techniques.
Experience preparing technical and scientific reports.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience in multi-collector-ICP-MS analysis.
Experience supervising users of a geochemistry laboratory.
Experience working on geoscience projects as part of a scientific team.
Experience performing chemical sample preparation procedures on geological and/or environmental materials.
Experience calibrating and maintaining complex analytical equipment.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge of the calibration methodologies commonly used in plasma spectrochemistry-based analysis.
Knowledge of mass spectrometry.
Knowledge of basic data aggregation and statistical methods/techniques.
Knowledge of the diagnostic physical and chemical properties of common geological minerals.

Ability to supervise activities in a multi-user analytical facility.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively orally
