Depending on the needs of the organization, candidates could be randomly selected from the inventory for assessment purposes. This process may be used to establish a pool of partially or fully qualified candidates which may be used by the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages to staff positions with various security profiles and various tenures such as indeterminate, term and casual position.

The Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages is a small organization of 160 employees that offers a positive, collaborative and entirely bilingual work environment.

The Commissioner of Official Languages is mandated by Parliament. She is therefore independent from the government, but her staff are members of the federal public service and benefit from all of the related advantages, including flexible work, competitive salaries and professional development.

Duties

The Analyst / Investigator / Auditor is responsible for:

Handling complaints and preparing performance report cards as part of a team responsible for processing complaints, preparing report cards, carrying out external audits and prevention interventions at the Compliance Assurance Branch of the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages.

Providing advice on official languages.

Work environment

OCOL has a Workplace 2.0 fit-up with open-concept offices, quiet rooms, meeting rooms and collaborative areas for team work. Employees are equipped with laptops and have Wi-Fi access throughout the office space. The new eco-friendly building is located at 30 Victoria St. in Gatineau and is close to public transit, parking, bike and walking paths, shops and services. The building offers indoor bike storage, as well as women's and men's change rooms with showers.

Intent of the process

Candidates may be referred from this inventory at anytime for various positions based on the needs of the organization, asset qualifications, or random selection. The inventory will be updated every 60 days. If your application is part of the inventory, you will receive a system generated email notice in your applicant account 10 days before that period. The notice will ask you whether your application should continue to remain active for an additional 60 days. Failure to respond to the email will result in the inactivation of your application. You will need to reactivate your application to be considered for staffing opportunities. The inclusion of your application into the inventory will depend on the responses provided to the screening questions. The information you provide must be true. If your resume is selected for a process and your experience is not clearly demonstrated, your application may be rejected.

A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to university graduation.

EXP1: Recent and significant* experience in gathering, and analyzing information;
EXP2: Recent and significant* experience in preparing written material such as briefings, reports and recommendations, or presentations.

*Recent and significant” is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full-time performance of duties for approximately 2 years in the last 4 years.

This will be confirmed during the assessment stage of the selection process. You are required to submit an application to this selection process to be considered for further assessment.

Proof of Canadian Citizenship and education credentials must be available upon request. Candidates with foreign credentials must provide proof of Canadian equivalency. Consult the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials for further information at http://www.cicic.ca/. Should you not have a degree, you could be asked to undertake the PSC test approved as an alternative to university graduation.

TRAVEL RELATED TO THE SELECTION OR APPOINTMENT PROCESS
Please note that candidates (including employees of the Public Service) will not be considered to be in travel status or on government business and that travel costs will not be reimbursed. Consequently, candidates will be responsible for travel costs. Minimal reimbursement of relocation expenses could be offered if the selected candidate moves as the result of an employment offer.

You must clearly indicate, in writing and giving concrete examples, how you meet each essential qualification in the Education and Experience category; failure to do so may result in your application being rejected.
