Duties

As a member of the Waysides team in Mount Revelstoke & Glacier national parks, you will be responsible for various cleaning and maintenance tasks that are essential for the upkeep of our facilities and enjoyment of visitors. This includes comprehensive cleaning of picnic shelters, washrooms, and outhouses, operation of sanitation trucks, general facility maintenance, and grounds maintenance.

This position requires the incumbent to:
• Conduct repetitive tasks;
• Make moderate to heavy physical efforts including lifting; supplies, tools and equipment;
• Stand for prolonged periods;
• Stand, bend, stretch and work from ladders;
• Be exposed to noxious odour from cleaning products

EDUCATION
Secondary school diploma or approved alternative or acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Valid class 5 driver’s license

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience in general facility maintenance.
EX2: Experience cleaning in a professional or institutional environment.
EX3: Experience in grounds maintenance.
EX4: Experience in the operation of power tools such as lawn mowers and grass trimmers.

Conditions of employment

• Reliability status.
• Possession of a valid class 5 Driver’s License.
• Willing to obtain and maintain air brake endorsement.
• Willingness to work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays.
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and/or prescribed protective equipment.
• Willingness to travel and work in various outdoor sites with some exposure to weather elements.
• Willingness to report to work in Rogers Pass, BC if/when required.
