Important Notice: Applicants should be aware that the position they are applying for may potentially transfer from the Government of Canada to the Government of Nunavut on April 1, 2027. This transfer will take place as part of the Nunavut Lands and Resources Devolution Agreement which will provide Nunavut with greater governance responsibilities and fulfill a longstanding commitment to self-determination. Workplace:

Successful candidates will be required to work at the office located in Iqaluit, Nunavut, either full-time or in a hybrid work mode. Please only apply if you are already located in Iqaluit or are willing to relocate to Iqaluit.

Relocation and Housing:

Salary, Allowances, and Benefits:

In addition to salary, you are entitled to an isolated posts allowance. This can range from $26,770 to $44,616 per year, depending on the number of dependants, geographic location and whether the accommodation is provided by the Crown. You are also entitled to vacation travel allowance of approximately $2 000 twice a year for you and each eligible dependant.

As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance.

Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) continues to renew the nation-to-nation, Inuit-Crown, government-to-government relationship between Canada and First Nations, Inuit and Métis; modernize Government of Canada structures to enable Indigenous peoples to build capacity and support their vision of self-determination; and lead the Government of Canada's work in the North.

Intent of the process

Immediate need: Two (2) full-time indeterminate positions located at Iqaluit, NU.

This process will be used to fill current vacancies and to establish a pool of qualified candidates for future opportunities (Deployment, Assignment, Secondment, Acting, Term or Indeterminate) in Nunavut only, with various security requirements (reliability or secret).

Candidate information will not be shared with federal departments outside Nunavut to fill vacancies elsewhere across Canada.

The following criteria will be assessed using your resume and the online screening questions. To be selected, you must imperatively demonstrate when, where and how you acquired each of the qualifications by giving concrete examples.

• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

Notes: The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative
to a secondary school diploma; or
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

• Experience related to water monitoring, environmental assessment, project management or inspection and compliance.
• Experience working with internal and external clients and partners.
• Experience with providing advice on regulatory requirements pertaining to water management.
• Experience complying with legislation and regulations related to natural resources management.
• Experience in writing scientific and technical reports and/or documents.

• A diploma or degree in Resource Management or Environmental Sciences from a recognized college or university.

• Experience working in a Northern Environment.
• Experience working in a cross-cultural environment as it relates to Inuit culture and values.
• Experience in environmental inspections or field work.
