Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. A pool of essentially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

EDUCATION / OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

• Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a technologist diploma with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position such as electrical, mechanical, civil or structural.

OR

• Possession of a valid Red Seal Certificate in one of the above construction trades.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

• Experience in planning and managing a preventative or operations maintenance program.
• Experience in using various computer software programs such as MS Office.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Willing and able to undertake extensive travel to remote locations.
• Willing and able to work overtime as required.
• Willing and able to comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures including wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted provincial or territorial driver’s licence valid in the location of work.
• Willing and eligible to obtain and maintain a Departmental driver’s licence (DND 404).

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.
• Meet and maintain the Health Canada occupational health evaluation in accordance with Treasury Board policy.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
