Assessment accommodation

Duties

• Manage a physical library location and print collections.
• Plan and implement collection consolidation activities with library staff at other NRCan Library locations.
• Provide reference services (e.g. in-person, online chat, Teams).
• Provide library orientations and training at in-person and virtual events.
• Supervise Library Technicians and students.
• Manage Library service line work (e.g. reference, collections management, collection development, outreach and training), including tracking relevant metrics.
• Plan, participate in and facilitate Library staff and service line meetings.
• Participate in consortium working groups and projects, as needed.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one LS-03 (bilingual imperative (BBB/BBB)) position, on an indeterminate basis, located in Sault Ste-Marie, Ontario.

Additionally, a pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar LS-03 positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), language requirements and profile(s) imperative or non-imperative (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC,CCC/CCC, etc.), locations and conditions of employment.

Education:
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a Master's degree in Library Science, or in Library and Information Science;

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience working in a specialized library and in providing delivery of library services and advice to management.
Experience in the delivery of digital and virtual library reference services, research services, client orientation and user training.
Experience working in a virtual library network and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders.
Experience with print collection management and assessment.
Experience in managing human and financial resources.
