INDETERMINATE DEFINITION
Permanent (Full Time) positions. These positions involve shift work; shifts vary by institution.
With more than 20,000 employees, Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) plays a key role in contributing to public safety, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, at our 43 correctional institutions, 91 parole offices and 14 community correctional centres across Canada. Join us to help change lives and protect Canadians!
Correctional Officers II (CX-02) - Healing Lodges play a vital role as the first line of contact for offenders. They handle both security tasks and case management. They incorporate a healing component into the offenders' case management in collaboration with the Elder/Spiritual Advisors, and other members of the case management team. They have an understanding of Indigenous life, assist offenders to follow their healing path/journey, listen and respond to offenders' concerns, document information and events, participate in case conferences for decision-making and prepare a variety of reports and recommendations.
The Correctional Service of Canada is seeking interest from persons looking for an exciting and rewarding career as a Correctional Officer II in a Healing Lodge. This is similar to the role of Correctional Officer I in a men’s institution; however, the position is classified at a higher level and includes additional responsibilities with respect to case management.
We also strongly encourage you to apply for the position of Primary Worker/Kimisinaw who have direct and daily contact with women offenders and for the position of Correctional Officer I.
REAPPLICATION
If you are currently participating in a Correctional Officer II - Healing Lodges selection process (actively being evaluated or have applied and are waiting for evaluation at any stage) you do not need to re-apply to this Correctional Officer II - Healing Lodges selection process.
If you previously participated in a Correctional Officer II - Healing Lodges selection process your previous results may apply and will be confirmed during the assessment stage of the selection process. Please refer to your result letter as waiting periods for reassessment will be applied.
If you have also applied or are thinking of applying for Primary Worker/Kimisinaw and/or Correctional Officer I, please note that some parts of the assessment process (like medical evaluation, security clearance, psychological assessment) are the same for all three selection processes; as such the results and related waiting periods would also apply to those selection processes.
