Duties

About the role:
At PrairiesCan, we are true believers in advancing information management (IM) systems, policies and tools that are user-centric and truly make a difference. In this position, you will provide analysis, interpretation, guidance and support of information/records management services. You will be a source of advice in IM for senior management and employees, carry out taxonomy development to support collecting, classifying, cataloging and retrieving information, as well as perform research and evaluation work.

PrairiesCan offices are open environments with well-regulated air quality, ergonomic sit- stand workstations, and a combination of natural and fluorescent lighting. The physical demands of this position include spending a significant amount of screen time on a computer or equivalent, as well as reading documents in digital and/or print media.

Intent of the process

Number of positions to be filled: 1 Indeterminate position

A pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) will be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level. This process may be used for various positions and tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments, casual) as well as various locations, security requirements, language requirements and conditions of employment. The pool of qualified candidates may also be shared and accessed with other federal government departments.

Education:
A post-secondary school diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in information management, information science, library science, archival science or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Experience developing recommendations and providing advice and guidance to clients and management
2. Experience in adapting, implementing or maintaining electronic document management systems throughout information lifecycle including retention and disposal matters
3. Experience performing quality assurance in the context of information management.
4. Experience in tracking, monitoring or reporting of information related to various administrative records keeping and information management activities such as document and records management, retention and disposition, budget, correspondence, projects and work in progress.

Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of the concepts, practices and trends associated with the management of information in the Government of Canada (GC).

• Professional accreditation related to information management.
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization relevant to the position.

Experience:
1. Experience working in an information management (IM) unit.
2. Experience participating on project teams, working groups or departmental and inter-departmental committees pertaining to program delivery administration and information management issues
3. Experience with SharePoint
