Intent of the process

The immediate intent of the process is to staff two (2) positions at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
- Lands Officer
- Policy and Program Analyst

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established which could be used to staff temporary and/or permanent positions with similar qualifications, various security requirements, and/or various tenures at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, within the Yukon territory. Conditions of employment may vary according to the positions to be staffed.

These positions are located in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. For operational reasons, the work must be performed on site, at the Whitehorse Office. If not already a resident in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, the successful and selected candidates are required to relocate to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.

EDUCATION:

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience building networks and developing relationships with the aim of advancing files or issues.
• Significant* experience synthesizing complex** information for a non-expert audience.
• Experience working as part of a team in support of strategic discussions involving senior members of indigenous, governmental or non-governmental organizations.

* Significant is defined as experience associated with full-time performance of duties for a minimum period of two (2) years.
**Complex issues are normally characterized by the following: multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent-setting or having a major impact on program delivery for the public service.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

• Experience working in program delivery.
• Experience working in public sector lands management or Reserves (as defined in the Indian Act) administration. (Lands Officer position only)
• Experience in working and living in Northern Canada.
• Experience working on Capital and/or Infrastructure related projects.
• Experience developing correspondence and formal briefings for senior management.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
(Not essential, but preference may be given to candidates who possess asset qualifications)

• Graduation with the minimum of a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with a relevant specialization OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience defined as some post-secondary education and/or training and depth and breadth of experience that would normally be acquired over two (2) years working in a relevant field.

6. Online assessments may be scheduled, and applicants will be invited to participate in these assessments via email. Applicants MUST make themselves available within the time span of the testing phase. The written/online exam MAY be administered outside of regular working hours including evenings and weekends.

8. NOTE: The PSRS system will time out after 60 minutes which may result in your inability to save your work or loss of data.
