Under the joint supervision of a research scientist (AAFC), a nutritionist (AAFC) and a chemical engineer (Université de Sherbrooke), the successful candidate will carry out a research project on the validation and modeling of mixing in the small intestine of the in vitro digestion system (IVIDIP) developed by AAFC.
This work is part of a larger study looking at several aspects of digestion, with a view to supporting knowledge relevant to improving the quality of life of ostomates (i.e. understanding the risks of blockages or diarrhea). We are therefore looking for an inquisitive and motivated individual to carry out the following tasks: literature search and analysis, planning and execution of laboratory experiments (setting up a copy of the current model - pumps, tubing; instrumentation and automation of data acquisition, etc.), interpretation and analysis of data, preparation of progress reports and manuscripts. This project is funded and carried out in collaboration with the Association des stomisés Richelieu-Yamaska.
The workplace is the Saint-Hyacinthe Research and Development Centre (In-person for 80% of the time). More specifically, the in vitro digestion laboratory under the supervision of Yves Arcand, Ph.D, and Isabelle Germain, DtP, MSc, PhD.
The laboratory specializes in the development and use of different in vitro digestion systems and digesta analysis.
