Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a bilingual imperative linguistic profile (CCC/CCC) and an Enhanced Reliability Status with a Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP across Canada on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

EDUCATION

Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with acceptable specialization in social science, statistics, library/archival work or a law-related field.

Notes:
1- An indeterminate incumbent of a former SI position who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated in Part B above, is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience. He/she must be accepted as having met the minimum educational standard for appointment or deployment to Part B EC positions. This note also applies to a person appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a Part B EC position after that date as the result of a staffing transaction started before June 22, 2009.

2- At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience that is comparable to the minimum education stated above, may serve as an alternative. Whenever the minimum educational standard is met through an alternative, it is met only for the position being staffed, and a candidate must be re-assessed for future appointments and deployments if the manager has asked for this alternative.

3- "Social science" includes economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, history, psychology, geography, criminology, and other disciplines associated with social science. “Library/archival work” includes gallery and museum functions.

4- It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines whether the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at that institution.

EXPERIENCES
Experience working in an Archives, Library, or Information Management environment
Experience in the acquisition, description, or management of archival collections
Experience in developing guidelines and procedures to maintain and preserve archives
Experience in analyzing the content of assigned records to prepare summaries according to archival standards and to identify those for retention or disposal
Experience in providing advice and guidance to colleagues, partners and stakeholders on all aspects of archival management

Graduate (Master’s or PhD) education in archival science, library & information science or information management, or history.

CERTIFICATION (ASSET)
Training or certification in a Change Management methodology (for example, Prosci ADKAR)

Experience in digital Archives
Experience in developing and implementing digital services in a government department OR in an Archives OR in a Library
Experience developing and implementing Archives policies, procedures, guidelines or processes
Experience in the acquisition, description, or management of digital information resources
Experience in developing and maintaining finding aids using contemporary archival tools
Experience conducting analysis and assessment of records to determine disposition

HOW TO APPLY:
You will be required to answer screening questions to demonstrate how you meet the Essential Qualifications (Education and all Essential Experiences).

3- Specific details of tasks or projects demonstrating how the experience was acquired (Situation/Challenge, Tasks, Action and Result).

Preference
