Casual workers are hired for specified periods that may not exceed 90 working days in one calendar year, in a department or in an agency to which the Public Service Commission (PSC) has exclusive authority to make appointments. The period of casual employment may be for one or more than one term, but is not to exceed 90 working days in a department or agency in a calendar year.

Candidates will be required to complete a questionnaire to demonstrate which of the hiring criteria they meet. This will consist of identifying acquired experience in specific fields and any other criteria listed.

Intent of the process

The purpose of this inventory is to staff casual positions in various sectors of the department and various group and level. Casual employment is a temporary employment of 90 working days or less, in a calendar year, to meet needs arising from such contingencies as vacations, sick and training leaves, to conduct special projects that are anticipated but dependent of the availability of funds, etc.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Experience in providing administrative or operational support services*.

*Administrative support services may include the performance of tasks such as managing the daily agenda of manager, planning or coordinating meetings, preparing documents or reviewing for accuracy, coordinating incoming and outgoing correspondence, filing, writing minutes of meetings, preparing spreadsheets and collating data, etc.
Operational support services may include the performance of tasks such as preparing forms, data entry, preparing and reviewing reports or other documents, filing, and drafting correspondence in operational environments such as registrar service, finance, administration, security, human resources, case management, or other areas.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

• Experience with the contracting process (statement of work and the overall process).
• Experience in project management.
• Experience providing advices to senior manager, especially about event planning.
