💲 Additional Salary Information
Positions are entitled to Inmate Training Differential allowance of 7% of the salary in the position staffed and a $2,140 Correctional Services Special Duty Allowance annually.

Work environment

As a Plumber within Correctional Service Canada you will be joining the Facilities Management Team. The Facilities Management Team consists of employees who occupy positions in various trades and are responsible for providing services in the maintenance, repair and replacement of physical assets, systems and related equipment such as: buildings, fences and barriers, HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures and piping, electrical systems, indoor and outdoor lighting, backup power generators, roads, land, water production, waste water treatment, petroleum storage tanks, vehicles, grounds keeping, snow removal, waste management and recycling and maintenance of electronic security systems.

The positions you are applying for are located in federal correctional institutions, where you will be responsible for supporting the maintenance of the institution while directly supervising and training offenders.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Possession of a valid Provincial or Interprovincial Journeyperson Plumber Certificate in the designated province of work or certification accepted by the provincial governing body as an equivalent
Possession of a valid Provincial or Interprovincial Gas Fitting Certificate in the designated province of work or certification accepted by the provincial governing body as an equivalent.

EXPERIENCE
Experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water, sewage, plumbing and various piping systems and lines in a manufacturing, industrial or institutional environment.
Experience interpreting and applying safety precautions and practices associated with plumbing work.
Experience using word processing software, spreadsheet software and an email platform

Successful completion of any continuing education courses relevant to facility maintenance or workplace safety, such as: British Columbia Water and Waste Association (BCWWA) Certification in Cross Connection Control (CCC), Small Water Systems (SWS), Small Wastewater Systems (SWWS), Chlorine handling, etc.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Experience supervising individuals.
Experience training individuals.
Experience working in a correctional or institutional facility.

Ability to provide instruction on the use of plumbing equipment and tools.
