Assessment accommodation

Duties

Operate a printing workshop.
Train and supervise inmates participating in the training program.

Work environment

CORCAN is a special operating agency within the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). It offers the employment and employability program to federal offenders throughout their sentence, in collaboration with other areas of CSC. To do this, CORCAN operates training sites in institutions where inmates develop employment skills. As a printing instructor, you will be responsible for training inmates participating in the training program in the workshop while also ensuring client needs are met through production.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

•Professional Studies Diploma (DEP) in the printing field or an acceptable combination of education,
training and/ or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
The candidates must have experience in at least one of the following areas:
Printing : Experience with a sheetfed press with an offset process.
OR
Flexography and die-cutting : Experience on a flexographic press or experience with commonly used
cutting equipment such as Die-Cut.
OR
Finishing : Experience using commercial paper cutting machines such as a guillotine (knife), stapler, hole
punch or folder.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

EDUCATION

Successfully completion of post secondary diploma in the printing field or other relevant post
secondary training to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

•Experience operating Hamada, Heidelberg GTO, Harris or Heidelberg Sork, Kempsmith or FL-92
knife equipment.
•Experience working in a manufacturing and/or production and/or assembly environment.
• Experience working with offenders in a correctional setting (institutional or community)
•Experience teaching and/or instructing printing techniques.
• Experience working in an organization with international standards systems and/or internal systems
such as ISO standards.
