Within assigned provinces or regions, development, delivery and ongoing implementation of CORCAN’s construction or cabinetry related manufacturing training program, including supervising and training offenders while completing a variety of construction and/or cabinetry related projects and tasks. This includes a general undertaking of construction and/or manufacturing operations, such as cabinetry production in a manufacturing shop, ready to move, modular, renovation, maintenance, and/or on site builds. Projects are delivered to a variety of clients including governmental, private sector, Indigenous communities and non-governmental organizations.
CORCAN Instructors provide direct provision of the employment and employability program for offenders through on the job training provided by CORCAN. Ensures multi-dimensional objectives are met, relating to offender employment and training, reintegration programs, security, safety, production targets, cost containment and customer satisfaction on behalf of CORCAN.

Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is part of the criminal justice system with a statutory role to provide safe and secure incarceration for federal offenders.
CORCAN is a Special Operating Agency within CSC and operates with a Revolving Fund. Its purpose is to aid in the safe reintegration of offenders into Canadian society by providing employability skills, employment and training opportunities, vocational certification, and employment support services to offenders. CORCAN operates under a governance structure with a Headquarters in the National Capital Region, and offers offender employment and employability services, on the job and vocational training sites, and sales support in every region of the country. CORCAN positions are located in correctional environments (both institution and community based).
This process will be used to create an inventory of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenure, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country.

EDUCATION
Carpenter, CORCAN
Possession of a valid Provincial or Inter-provincial Journeyman Certificate as a Carpenter which is valid in the designated province of work, or journeyman certification accepted by the provincial governing body as equivalent.
Instructor Cabinetmaker, CORCAN
Possession of a valid certificate of qualification as a Cabinetmaker, Industrial Woodworker or other recognized trade which are related to the position in the province in which you are applying for employment.
Plumber, CORCAN
Possession of a valid Provincial or Inter-provincial Journeyman Certificate as a Plumber which is valid in the designated province of work, or journeyman certification accepted by the provincial governing body as equivalent.
Electrician, CORCAN

Experience in an educational environment providing instruction to others in a construction industry related program
Experience and proficiency in reading/interpreting blueprints, drawings, and construction specifications
Experience creating and maintaining project schedules
Experience and proficient in the use of software such as AutoCAD, MS Project or other similar software
Experience in estimating materials, equipment needs and job costing
Experience in residential construction
Experience in masonry, and/or concrete foundation and form work
Experience in window and door installation OR flooring installation OR roofing projects
Experience working with high-pressure steam distribution systems
Experience working with residential and/or commercial heating appliance systems
