Intent of the process

Depending on the needs of the organization, candidates will be randomly selected from the inventory for assessment purposes. This process may be used to establish a pool of partially or fully qualified candidates which may be used by Correctional Service Canada to staff positions with various linguistic profiles, various security profiles, various locations across Canada and various tenures such as (indeterminate, term and casual position).

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. Failing to do so could result in your application being rejected.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Possession of a valid Provincial or Inter-provincial Journeyman Certificate as a Mason/Bricklayer which is valid in the designated province of work.

Degree equivalency

Experience in supervision and providing direction to workers, motivating and / or counselling when necessary, providing feedback and/or performance evaluations.

Experience working on residential and/or commercial and/or industrial construction sites.

Experience in the use of computer systems and software.
(For example: Windows operating platform and Microsoft Outlook, Excel, & Word).

NOTES:
- Experience will be defined as approximately 2 years work experience in a construction environment within the last 10 years. This applies to both essential and asset qualifications.

- The above experiences may have been obtained while serving as a member in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) .

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

WHMIS certification.

First Aid / CPR certification

Forklift operator certification

Fall protection certification

Confined space certification

Experience in participation, maintenance, and compliance with construction site safety programs and occupational health and safety policies and procedures.

Experience in compliance with building codes, regulations, and acts applicable to construction

Experience in providing on the job training and/or work skills instruction in a production, construction or textile environment.

Experience in a correctional setting working with Offenders

Experience and proficiency in reading/interpreting blueprints, drawings, and construction specifications

Experience creating and maintaining construction project schedules

Experience and proficient in the use of AutoCAD and / or MS Project.

Experience with tool control methods

Experience in material and inventory control

Experience in estimating materials, equipment needs and job costing

Experience in material, tool, supplies and services procurement

Experience in re-pointing stone and/or brick and/or block structures

Experience erecting and working on scaffolding

Experience in masonry and/or concrete foundation and form work

Experience in repairing masonry structures and/or assemblies

Experience working in the modular home industry.
