You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Two years apprenticeship in the applicable trade as recognized by the Apprenticeship and Certification Branch of Nova Scotia and/or a combination of education, training and experience in the applicable trade as approved by the manager.
OR
Possession of a valid journeyman certificate in the applicable trade as recognized by the Apprenticeship and Certification Branch of Nova.
Two years apprenticeship in the applicable trade as recognized by the Apprenticeship and Certification Branch of Nova Scotia and/or a combination of education, training and experience in the applicable trade as approved by the manager.
OR
Possession of a valid journeyman certificate in the applicable trade as recognized by the Apprenticeship and Certification Branch of Nova.
For Carpenter: experience in the carpentry field as it relates to the construction and maintenance of commercial and residential buildings
For Electrician: experience in the electrical construction field installing, testing, troubleshooting and inspecting various electrical systems and components.
For Plumber: experience in the plumbing field installing and maintaining building potable water, waste and venting systems and all associated fixtures/components.
For Painter: experience in the painting field as it relates to the preparation and application of finishing materials.
For Steamfitter: experience in the steamfitter field working in multi-disciplinary work places/work teams.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to read and follow direction.

Field experience assisting other construction trades.

Possession of a valid unrestricted Nova Scotia driver's license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DND 404 driver's permit.
Must be able to wear related Personal Protective Equipment.
Must be able to perform heavy lifting tasks.
