Step 1: Screening (Review of Applications)

Step 2: Assessment

▶ An interview and/or written exam may be administered.
▶ Reference checks, as well as reviews of past performance appraisals, may be conducted. The Assessment Committee reserves the right to contact references other than those provided by the candidates (within the Public Service only) in order to adequately assess the candidates.

Duties

🍁The Veterans Service Agent position is attached to the Field Operations Division with the core mandate of delivering direct services to our Veterans and their families. With more than 1,200 employees across the country, Field Operations has a wealth of knowledge, skills, abilities and strengths in multiple areas thanks to its diverse workforce. The opportunity for movement brings renewal to our workforce and creates a stimulating work environment. Veterans Service Agents are critical members in the interdisciplinary teams to deliver services and benefits to Veterans with specific or moderate needs.

Work environment

🏢 🏠 We have quickly adapted to the new reality and the majority of our employees are currently working based on a common hybrid work model. Employees may expect to work a combination of both remote and on site work, with the frequency of each depending on the operational needs at the time of hiring and as we continue to evolve.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a pool or partially assessed pool of candidates to fill similar or identical positions with various language profiles, durations (term, indeterminate, assignment, secondment, acting appointment and deployment) and conditions of employment in Veterans Affairs Canada or other Federal Government Departments.

The immediate need is to staff two (2) positions in Comox and in Esquimalt.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
1️⃣Successful completion of an acceptable post-secondary program** in an area of study that focusses on human behavior, social services, social sciences, or other areas relevant to the position being staffed.

OR

2️⃣An acceptable combination of successful completion of a post-secondary program** with a minimum of 1 year experience working directly with clients in a Social Services* setting.

* Social Services is defined as the provision of services intended to aid disadvantaged, distressed, or vulnerable persons or groups.
** Post-secondary program is defined as the completion of a Diploma or Degree from a recognized post- secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
EX1 - Experience in applying legislative, regulatory or policy related benefits or services.
EX2 - Experience working in a team environment in a health care, social services, or military setting.
EX3 - Experience working with clients in the provision of benefits, services, follow-up and referrals.

Operational Requirements:
• Possession and maintenance of a valid driver's license or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a valid driver's license
• Veterans Service Agents are assigned to a primary work location but may be required to work at various locations and travel between these locations.
• Must be willing on occasion, to officially represent the Department at functions such as conferences, commemorative events, etc.
• Consent to be deployed or assigned within the Area office, as per the organizational needs
